Public Sector Funding

Federal and State Governments are the prime source of funding for programs focused at supplying affordable housing, community development, rural development, and job development in urban, suburban and rural areas. Public Sector Funding in these areas are combinations of grants and various type loans to qualified individuals, and profit and/or social profit (non-profit) organizations.  In many cases these funds are only part of the funding picture -- that is focused at partnering with individuals, the private sector and foundations to combine their funding ability to improve communities with housing, community revitalization and job development opportunities.

The Community Investment Network has profiled funding pathways in these main areas to make it easier for organizations focused on the broad spectrum of community investment to access these funding opportunities as well as funding information for individuals, families and businesses seeking funding assistance. Review the Sections under Federal Government Funding Programs for detailed information.

You can browse the various topics on the right--->

While somewhat more difficult to navigate than the more focused Community Investment Network, the Federal government does provide a search service to all Federal grants programs. Called Grants.gov, it is a substantial improvement over previous methods to search for grant programs.

Grants.Gov.

Grants.gov is a new Web site managed by the US. Department of Health and Human Services, that allows organizations to electronically find and apply for more than $400 billion in Federal grants. Grants.gov is the single access point for over 1000 grant programs offered by all Federal grant-making agencies. Navigation of Grants.gov is simple. The Site provides colored tabs and/or links at the top of the Web screen to access primary sections of the site or the links to the left and below to access information on specific topics.
