Last week, Bloomberg Philanthropies<
http://bloomberg.org/> and Living Cities<
http://www.livingcities.org/> jointly announced <
http://cfefund.org/pdfs/release_042512.pdf> a ground-breaking asset building investment of $16.2 million dollars in a national Financial Empowerment Center network <
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/michae..._1452427.html> run by the newly-created Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund<
http://www.cfefund.org/> (CFE Fund) at Living Cities.
Financial Empowerment Centers, now publicly-funded, one-on-one professional counseling centers in over 30 locations in New York City<
http://www.nyc.gov/ofe>, have already helped over 15,500 New Yorkers reduce over $7 million in debt, build $900,000 in savings, and improve their financial stability. Through this sizable 3-year grant, the CFE Fund will work with selected cities to design and implement both the professional training infrastructure for counselors and the local Financial Empowerment Centers, themselves.
The CFE Fund's Phase One RFP <
http://cfefund.org/pdfs/fecrfp_final.pdf> is now posted online at www.CFEFund.org<
http://www.CFEFund.org>. Question and Answer webinars are scheduled for May 4 and May 9, 2012 and Phase One responses are due to the CFE Fund by June 1, 2012.
The CFE Fund is also hiring a Program Manager for the Financial Empowerment Center replication project. The full job description<
