World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) Please submit applications to hr@woccu.org<mailto:hr@woccu.org> Vice President Member Services Status: Exempt Department: Association Services Type: Non-Represented Supervisor: CEO Date: September 2011 PRIMARY PURPOSE: Manage WOCCU's member services and accountabilities, advocacy and regulatory affairs, statistical reporting and meetings & special events. Provide specialized financial network services to benefit WOCCU members and to promote the international credit union movement. Ensure WOCCU's members are receiving world class service including concrete value for their dues. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Member service: Facilitate the global exchange of information and ideas on credit unions; and raise the awareness of credit unions and financial cooperatives. Analyze member demands and market trends. Provide as a focal point for member services and communications. Manage all technical, budgetary and promotional aspects of these tasks. Prepare and submit to WOCCU's annual work plans and budget proposals annually. Monitor progress against work plan activities and in achieving project goals. 2. Advocacy and member service: Provide and coordinate delivery of lobbying to improve the legislative and regulatory environments for credit unions. Support members in their lobbying efforts and proactively lobbying international standard setting bodies such as the International Accounting Standards Board, Bank for International Settlements, Financial Action Task Force, Group of 20 and others. Work with policymakers, industry and government officials to ensure appropriate and proportional supervisory and legislative environment for credit unions. Oversee and update legislative / regulatory tools including the International Guide to Credit Union Legislation, Model Law and Model Regulations for Credit Unions and the Global Regulatory newsletter. Through and annual survey of WOCCU's membership, collect, compile and disseminate legislative, statistical and taxation information. Direct WOCCU's consultant and advocacy in the European Union and coordinate the activities of the European Network of Credit Unions, coordinate the global and regional regulator roundtable meetings and run the secretariat for the International Credit Union Regulator's Network. 3. Meetings and Special Events: Provide creative and effective management of meetings and special events to fulfill WOCCU's mission to be the world's leading platform for credit union innovation and knowledge exchange. Ensure that the Meetings and Special Events Manager develops and implements short and long-range work plans, financial plans and strategies including fiscal, venue selection, negotiation, speakers, registration, and administrative objectives. Direct the comprehensive planning, implementation, logistics and follow-up for the World Credit Union Conference, the dual goal of a quality educational offering and high net income. Oversee and direct the WYCUP program. Serve as the primary architect for the educational content and speaker selection for the conferences. Facilitate members, supporters, delegates, credit union boards and staff to adopt and implement operational and strategic objectives to meet annual and future goals. 4. Statistical and Information Research: Provide and coordinate delivery of research analysis, credit union statistics and information services. Manage the Credit Union Analyst position to provide responses to informational requests. Through and annual survey of WOCCU's membership, collect, compile and disseminate legislative, statistical and taxation information. Manage all technical, budgetary and promotional aspects of these tasks. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Education and Experience: Bachelor Degree in business, finance, marketing, or related field. At least 8 years experience in financial and regulatory advocacy, association services, credit unions, and human resource development are required. Experience with writing and/or reviewing financial sector legislation and regulations. Demonstrated skills in lobbying, finance, business management, meetings and special events, oral and written presentations, fundraising management, implementation and evaluation of strategic business plans, supervision and staff development, motivations of volunteers, working with committees, and financial analysis. Experience in creation and editing both oral and written presentations, public relations and working with board committees. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work with member association executives, regulators, central bankers, and senior government officials to promote credit unions. Language Skills: Very high language skills required including the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Fluency (read, write, speak) in English and Spanish is required. Mathematical Skills: High mathematical skills required including the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Skills: Very high reasoning skills required including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications, Web and Internet utilization. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position supervises the Advocacy and Government Affairs Senior Manager, Special Events Manager and the Credit Union Analyst. TRAVEL Up to 100 days per year; including both domestic and international travel.
