I thought the listserv members may appreciate a briefing on upcoming activities at the St. Louis Fed. Exploring Innovation in Community Development Week, April 19-23, 2010. The theme is, "New Voices, Fresh Ideas: The Future of Community Development". All activities during the week may be viewed at: www.exploringinnovation.org The purpose of Exploring Innovation in Community Development Week is to draw national attention to innovation in the community development industry and its important role in American life. Exploring Innovation in Community Development promotes a culture of innovation where communities, regions and states function at a higher level by addressing persistent social conditions and economic issues with breakthrough ideas. A community development policy dialogue series will premiere and continue through 2010. The purpose of the series is to convene thought-leaders to rethink the future of community development. The dates and topics are: April 20, Restructuring and Retooling for the Future June 24, Human Capital and the Future August 26, Social Capital and the Future November 10, Financial Capital and the Future Each policy dialogue will begin with a videoconference of national thought-leaders followed by conversations convened by local development organizations. For example, the St. Louis April 20 policy dialogue will include the following: National Panelists: Cultural Intelligence and New Voices with Gary Logan, Synago Consulting, Kansas City, MO. The state of the nonprofit sector and business model innovation with Ruth McCambridge, The Nonprofit Quarterly. Building policy for the future with Ray Boshara, New America Foundation. Conversation topics and the convenor: 1.
