Dear Michael We are producers of Loan Performer micro-finance software. I send you some general information about our product and our work. Functionality Loan Performer has the following modules: - Clients (Individuals, Groups with Groups Members, Businesses) - Shares - Savings (with Time-Deposits) - Loans (individual lending, group lending, Grameen lending) - Accounting (with Assets and Debtors/Creditors) All these modules are tightly integrated and you can: - pay/sell shares from/to the savings account, - buy Time-Deposits as a transfer from the savings account, receive monthly interest on the savings account, withdraw the Time-Deposit as a deposit to the savings account, - disburse loans to the savings account and repay (automatically) from the savings account, All these transactions automatically update the general ledger accounts and at the end of the day, you can print the Trial Balance and Balance Sheet. For all these transactions Loan Performer can print receipts. You can choose between different receipt formats. You can log the printing of receipts, so that you can reprint receipts later on if necessary. You can generate loan contracts where you can create the contract in Word and do a kind of mail merge from Loan Performer to create the contract. You can even create separate contracts for guarantors or for the collateral. Loan Performer has some 200 different reports. Reports can be filtered according to a whole set of criteria, in fact you can filter on any item of the underlying cursor. Reports can be exported to Excel, DBF or PDF files. The user has a whole set of formats to choose from and the order or grouping can be set as required. In fact the reporting facilities of Loan Performer are so strong that there is hardly a user who works with a report generator (although this is possible). Loan Performer comes standard in 4 languages (English, French, Spanish and Russian) and in a network environment one person can work in English while another works in Spanish without interfering each other. Also the Help file and training and implementations are in different languages. In fact each label can be customized by the user. Pricing For organizations up to 500 clients/loans, Loan Performer is free of charge. A single user, one branch license is only USD 900 plus 20% annual fees. We charge an annual fee for free updates and email/phone/fax/FTP support. A 5-user, one branch license is USD 1,600 plus 20% annual fees. A 12-user, one branch license is USD 2,200 plus 20% annual fees. A 20-user SQL Server or SQL Server Express license is USD 3,000 plus 20% annual fees. If an organization has more than one branch and wants to buy licenses for several branches, we give rebates according to the number of branches (starting from 35% onwards). We offer an upgrade schedule where people can start with a free 500 clients/loans Foxpro database to tens of thousand of clients/loans in an SQL Server database without loss of data. We just charge the price difference. Training We also do on- and off-site trainings. In general implementation takes 1 week training plus 2-3 days on-site assistance. If database conversion is to be done, this takes a bit longer. We work with a network of local consultants who can assist with the implementation. If you would like to be one of those, please contact us for further details. We have training manuals available in English, French and Spanish. Costs are resp. USD 50, USD 75 and USD 75, excl shipping. If you are in or around Uganda, I'd like to inform you that we have training sessions scheduled every first week of the month at our office. Two persons will share a computer, but you can also bring your own laptop if you like. We charge USD 300 per person for those who come from abroad or UShs 520,000 for Ugandans. This includes lunch for 5 days and a training manual. If you need a training schedule, let me know and I will send you this. Clients We have currently about 204 active clients with 415 sites (or branches) in more than 50 countries all over the world. These vary from very small to large organizations with more than 20 branches. We have rural banks, Saccos, village banks, projects and financial institutions. Among the 415 sites 180 are single user, 189 are 5-user, 28 are 12-user and 24 are SQL Server sites. There are 6 organisations that use Loan Performer for already 7 years. In fact our oldest client is Findev Azerbaijan, who started using Loan Performer in February 2000. Last year Findev received the Financial Transparancy award from CGAP, together with VMCA/Viator, another organisation that is using Loan Performer. About 70% of our clients are in Africa, 15% in the Caribbean and South America and 15% in Europe, the Arab peninsula and in Central Asia. And every year our clientele grows. A complete list can be found on the History link on our website. Support It is important for us not to just sell our software, but to keep our clients as satisfied customers. This ensures that the annual fees are being paid and that we receive good mouth-to-mouth publicity. We therefore respond immediately to client requests, add features they want and fix bugs as soon as possible without charge. Potential clients can contact us immediately by clicking the Chat buttons on our website and we provide support in 4 languages (English, French, Spanish and Russian). Achievements - Loan Performer has been rated as "Best value for money" by CGAP. - Crystal Clear Software Ltd, our company, was "Winner of the African SMME Awards 2005" in the Information and Communication Technology sector, issued by the Centre for Investment Analysis (ACIA) of the University of Stellenbosch Business School in Capetown, South Africa. - Crystal Clear Software Ltd received Silver in the 5th President's Export Awards 2003 for being the Number 1 Exporter in the category ICT Exports (received Jan 2005). - Crystal Clear Software Ltd was titled "Investor of the Year 2003" for the "Best Software Development for the year 2002-2003" by the Uganda Investment Authority for producing the best Uganda software (received Nov 2003). So far the sales pitch. If you need further information, please check our website and don't hesitate to contact us if you have additional questions. I'm not sure if you've opened your search to include "Micro-Finance" options but I worked on the Grameen Foundation's MIFOS project (and am continuing as a volunteer). It's open-source (free), and has an active development community that can be tapped. You can check them out here: www.mifos.org If you have any other questions, especially technically related, feel free to post them. My background is in software development and microfinance and I'm currently starting a non-profit called SaveTogether ( www.savetogether.org).
