Default Your favorite business plan resource?

Original message from: drew@socialenterprise.net

Dear Colleagues,

I will be sharing business plan information to a group of international NGO
leaders of environmental non-profits soon. I'd welcome your recommendations
for 1 (one) single, affordable resource to share with them - either a book,
computer program, online source, or article - to assist them.

Best,

We use the online Interactive Business Planner out of Canada with our
microenterprise clients. It's free, fairly easy to use, and available in
both English and French. While geared at small business, several of the
grassroots immigrant organizations we work with have also used it for
business planning - we just help them look at how sections focused on
small business relate to nonprofit operations. It's a helpful tool. URL

The Barefoot MBA looks very interesting

Below is a link to "C3 - promoting a Competitive, Confident and Credible Third Sector": not so much a business plan tool more a way of planning or supporting your business, It is a third sector model we are looking at adapting to small and medium enterprises and pre- and new starts: We have been developing a curriculum for growth for what we call 3rd sector enterprises at C3 Partnership - see the details on C3 link below

This is all part of a strategic approach to development approach to the sector - getting it closer to customers, deploying support more effectively and improving performance of the sector as a whole against enterprises own goals: none of it 'rocket science'!. I can send supporting docs for further info. We'll be developing a web based Community of Practitioners as a low cost, high impact way of moving things on - all completely open source of course, there's little thats new in the world and its all our gift and responsibility. That way we can test our ideas out against each other experience and bring it together in an accessible form. We also need to recognise that the stakeholders to success in our field can share much more of their learning to great advantage and without compromising their own interests in any real sense - Pareto's' 80 % rule comes (improperly?) to mind

I've been on this list for some years now and l enjoy when I look in on it, so thanks all of you: its good to learn.

I hope this, my first posting, comes out ok, well it didn't so I'm trying again, thanks for the help Bill. I can send supporting documents to anyone who asks individually

best wishes

Ted Fowler
