Does anyone know of a directory or census of organizations providing human
or social services? We would be interested in a national list or any
state or city lists for California and New York. Thanks very much.

RE: Human Resource and Social Service Organization Directories

A good place to start looking is with the United Way federation serving the
area of interest. Ours here in Southeastern PA has a website which lists
their member and partner agencies including descriptions. In addition
they've published a hard copy and electronic version of "The First Call
for Help Guide to Community Services" -- a definitive reference to over
4,500 agencies and programs in Philadelphia, Delaware and Montgomery
Counties.
