Housing Development Fund
100 Prospect Street, South Tower Suite 201 Stamford, CT 06901 Housing Development Fund seeks qualified applicants for the position of Senior Loan Officer. HDF manages a community development loan fund, based in Stamford, CT. We also have a satellite office in Danbury. HDF has offered pre-development, acquisition, construction and permanent financing to assist nonprofit and private developers engaged in affordable housing development since 1989. HDF manages a $15 million loan fund. The loan fund, capitalized with private investments, offers short and long-term mortgage financing products. The loan products are available to community development corporations, nonprofit organizations, or private developers undertaking affordable housing projects. Down payment assistance loans are available for income-eligible low and moderate income homebuyers. HDF is a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) which is governed by a Board of Directors representing private lenders, corporations and philanthropy, government, consumers and other individuals active in affordable housing and community development. Job Duties The Senior Loan Officer will work directly with organizations and individuals seeking funding, public financing agencies and private banks. The primary job responsibilities include: * Analyze and underwrite housing projects serving low and moderate-income populations throughout most of Fairfield County; * Prepare detailed written underwriting assessment of loan requests * and present recommendations to the HDF Loan Committee; * Close loans, approve loan disbursements, and manage loan portfolio; * Provide technical assistance to organizations requesting HDF loan funds; * Supervise and provide direction to the Junior Loan Officer; * Make presentations on HDF to regional associations and lenders; * and provide general staffing to the Loan and Strategic Planning Committees, including research on new models of financing affordable housing. The Senior Loan Officer will work in an energetic and enjoyable team environment of six total staff. Required Qualifications 1. At least five years experience in lending or development of housing or commercial projects; 2. Experience in closing real estate transactions either as lender or borrower; 3. Experience and/or good familiarity with the operations of non-profit organizations; 4. Excellent written and oral communication skills; 5. Strong computer skills in word processing and spread sheets, preferably experience with Windows, Word, and Excel; 6. Demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse constituencies; 7. Ability to work independently; and 8. BA or BS degree in relevant field. Preferred Qualifications 1. Familiarity with affordable housing issues and financing sources; 2. Experience in loan portfolio management; 3. Experience with development issues in a variety of settings including urban and suburban areas; 4. Experience working as a lender, developer, funder, or technical assistance provider to community-based organizations; 5. Graduate degree in related field (e.g. real estate finance, business, nonprofit management, public policy, or planning).
