PRESIDENT & CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER BETHEL NEW LIFE, INC. * * Bethel New Life, Inc. is a faith-based community development corporation located on Chicago’s west side, in the West Garfield Park and Austin communities.** Organized in 1979 as a neighborhood ministry of Bethel Lutheran Church, it has grown steadily under the visionary leadership of Mary Nelson and a strong community based Board of Directors, from its initial project of rehabilitating one three unit apartment building, to its current status as a $13 million, 30 program national community development model. * The Board is seeking an accomplished, creative and committed leader to succeed Ms. Nelson as Bethel’s Chief Executive Officer and to advance the organization’s reputation for innovation and effective community service.** The President’s responsibilities can be grouped in four major areas:* external relations, strategic planning, resource development, and organizational management.* He/she oversees a staff of 320, working through a strong senior management team. * REQUIREMENTS The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications: ¨***** At least five years of senior management experience in a complex organization. ¨***** Demonstrated effectiveness as a manager, including managing organizational change. ¨***** Demonstrated record of successful financial management and fundraising in a complex organization. ¨***** Demonstrated vision, creativity and imagination. ¨***** Demonstrated strong strategic thinking and problem solving skills. ¨***** Widely recognized leadership and personnel management skills. ¨***** A history of involvement with low- income communities and a commitment to community based, asset based, people- empowering efforts. ¨***** Outstanding skills in verbal and written communication. ¨***** A strong and clearly articulated personal faith in God, and a deep commitment to heeding God’s call to justice and concerns for overcoming poverty. ¨***** Personal flexibility to work effectively both within a low-income community and with government and corporate leaders. ¨***** Graduate degree or equivalent training in urban planning, business, public or social service administration, or other related field.* * COMPENSATION The salary range is $95-105,000, plus fringe benefits. * For further information, or to apply, contact David Erickson-Pearson.* * [b]David Erickson-Pearson 8008 S.
