KIPP Real Estate Finance Manager
Job Overview KIPP is a national, non-profit organization that trains and supports school leaders to open and run high performing public schools. KIPP schools provide educationally underserved students with the knowledge, skills, and character needed to succeed in top-quality high schools, colleges, and the competitive world beyond. There are currently 31 KIPP schools in operation nationwide. The KIPP Foundation is seeking an experienced real estate professional to manage the financing of our real estate projects. The Real Estate finance manager will work with the Real Estate Group to identify and secure funding for the lease, design, development, acquisition and construction of school properties. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: -Identifying sources of equity, debt, and credit enhancements for school facilities and structuring school financing projects, -Preparing loan applications with school principals, -Preparing grant applications with school principals, -Meeting with lenders and donors and developing those relationships, -Working with public officials to identify public sources of funds, -Developing internal underwriting processes, -Managing the portfolio of financial arrangements with partners, -Training school principals in real estate finance, -Developing training materials for scalability, -Developing new financing mechanisms for a national charter school group, -Opportunities to be involved in all aspects of a school's creation and operation Qualifications: -Committed to the belief that school reform should include schools of choice -Committed to the belief that quality education can transform neighborhoods -Excellent organizational skills -Action oriented and takes initiative -Creativity in finding partnerships and managing relationships -All candidates should be self-starters, who are capable/interested in working in a small "startup" environment with limited support. -Education industry experience a plus -Bachelors Degree required/Advanced Degree preferred -Ability to travel frequently Ideal candidates will have a background in school finance, (district schools, private schools, charter schools), low-income housing, community and real estate development. Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience in one of the above-mentioned disciplines, and substantial experience and understanding in the others.
