Calcutta House
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Founded in 1987, Calcutta House of Philadelphia is an independent,
non-profit agency providing housing, supportive services, nursing and
personal care for adult men and women with AIDS. Particularly welcome
are those without financial resources or family or friends to help
provide care. The goal of the staff is to provide a place where the
neediest individuals will be treated with dignity and kindness.
Day-to-day operations are carried out by a professional staff of 30
(full and part-time) and a corps of over 60 volunteers who assist with
the on-going services offered to the residents. The current Executive
Director, who will be leaving in the spring, has provided consistent and
inspired leadership. The organization is fiscally sound.

The Executive Director serves as the Chief Executive Officer; reports to
a volunteer, community-based Board of Directors; manages the
professional staff and is responsible for an operating budget of $1
million. S/he is accountable for the organization’s quality of care,
its role in the community, the deployment and functioning of staff as
well as for the financial viability of the agency.

Candidates must be comfortable working in a faith-based environment and
have a commitment to creating and sustaining a caring and compassionate
atmosphere. Leadership skill are expected. Management experience in a
direct service organization (health care preferred) with oversight of
program, staff and fiscal matters is required. The successful candidate
will be skilled in building teams and collaborative relationships with
staff, board, funders, and community groups. Strong and versatile
communication skills are required. Must have dedication to empowerment
issues.

A competitive salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
