Taking a cue from the work of the Seattle-King County Asset Building
Collaborative, the City of Los Angeles is looking forward to hosting its
1st-ever Financial Fitness Day this weekend!
The City's Community Development Department and Los Angeles City
Councilmember Richard Alarcon are co-hosting this event in partnership with
23 community organizations, from nonprofit service providers and legal aid
groups to financial institutions and our local Chambers of Commerce.
The event will be held at the Northeast Valley City Hall in Pacoima on
Saturday, March 31st from 9 AM-1 PM. We hope that this will become an
annual event for the City of Los Angeles and a "bridge" event spanning the
transition from the tax season (VITA services are available at the event)
to the celebration of April as National Financial Literacy month.
Throughout the day, free 1 on 1 financial counseling and tax preparation
services will be offered, as well as continuous financial education
workshops in English and in Spanish on topics ranging from foreclosure
prevention and credit repair to matched college savings programs. A
resource fair featuring our community partners will be available throughout
the day.

El Nido Family Centers, the City of Los Angeles' Business Source Center,
