Friends and former colleagues -
As you may recall, for several years now I have been producing a periodic update on the U.S. economy and made this available to anyone who requested a copy. My update is in PowerPoint format, with my lecture notes included.
Teaching political economy I found that my adult students (I am teaching at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Temple University) are far more interested in learning where the economy is and where it is headed than why it is heading there. So, last Fall I began the course with a presentation on the current state of the economy before beginning any discussion of the fundamental principles of political economy.
