Position Announcement
Program Manager
The UNC School of Social Work seeks a full-time Program Manager to
work with the Asset-Building Research Group under the leadership of
Dr. Michal Grinstein-Weiss. The emerging field of asset building looks
to increase social and economic well-being by finding innovative ways
to overcome disparity in social systems.* The Assets-Building Research
Group is at the forefront of social policy innovation both in the
United States and internationally. We work with diverse partners in
academia, government, non-profits, and the private sector to develop,
identify, evaluate, and improve initiatives that reduce inequality in
society and increase opportunity for all peoples.
Skills/Qualifications
Applicants should have an interest in promoting the well-being of
low-income populations. Position requirements include a master’s
degree in a related field (i.e. social work, sociology, economics, or
planning) and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preference will be given to applicants with policy-related experience,
strong quantitative skills, and familiarity with the issues of
low-income households.
Duties/Responsibilities
The duties of Program Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Coordinate several large research projects related to
asset-building policies among low-income populations.
2. Develop new research projects aimed at developing interventions to
assist low-income families and children.
3. Develop relationships with various partners in community,
government, national policy, and research; Collaborate with those
partners in implementing research projects.
4. Contribute to publication and dissemination of research findings by
assisting with the preparation of issue briefs, working papers,
reports, peer-reviewed articles, and other publications.
5. Assist with the organization of conferences and meetings.
6. Assist in grant writing.
Compensation
Competitive salary commensurate with experience, education, and
background. Salary includes full benefits through the University of
North Carolina.
