Senior Risk Officer, Risk Management
Calvert Foundation seeks a Senior Risk Officer to join its portfolio risk management team within the larger Lending & Advisory Services Department.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Senior Risk Officer will be responsible for oversight of the credit quality of the U.S.-based loan portfolio, including:
* Analysis of financial condition, operations and management of for-profit and non-profit organizations, primarily loan funds operating as Community Development Financial Institutions ("CDFIs") and affordable housing lenders and developers
* Provide guidance to Business Development team on structuring of more complex loans within the following sectors: affordable multifamily housing, energy efficient building, charter schools, community-based health care, and other sectors providing essential products and services to underserved, low income populations in the U.S.
* Manage portfolio of credits
* Supervision of junior staff monitoring U.S. based portfolio
* Participating in reporting functions including loan loss reserve analysis and reporting for Calvert Foundation's off-balance sheet asset management business
* Monitoring of credit policies and procedures specific to the U.S. portfolio
* Monitoring and reporting on regional and state level economic risk
* Advising on risk measurement and analysis for business models and industries not already represented in the Calvert Foundation portfolio
* Assisting U.S. portfolio team in the development of strategies and assessment tools when entering new markets and business/product lines
* In conjunction with the staff of Community Investment Partners (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Calvert Foundation), providing advisory services in the areas of investment policy development, fund structuring, and risk management tool development for off-balance sheet asset management clients interested in U.S. investing
The Senior Risk Officer will report directly to the Manager of the Risk Management team.
Skills
We seek a talented and socially responsible individual with skills/background/education in the areas of credit analysis, portfolio management, customer service, and a passion for using investment as a tool to alleviate poverty. The successful candidate will have:
1. Advanced degree in business, accounting or finance
2. At least 7 to 10 years of experience in credit analysis or portfolio management in a commercial or banking context
3. Experience in direct business lending preferred; experience in the CDFI, affordable housing, secondary markets and/or charter schools or healthcare facility finance sectors a plus.
4. Experience in supervision of staff helpful.
