BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
CALIFORNIA FRESHWORKS FUND
EMERGING MARKETS, INC.
[ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION]
Emerging Markets, Inc. is a double-bottom line consulting firm that assists
financial institutions and food retailers in pursuing business opportunities
in low-income communities. For the past decade, our firm has helped banks
and supermarkets expand and operate, both profitably and responsibly, in
underserved "emerging" markets. Our model is premised on defining clear,
mutually-beneficial partnerships between community stakeholders and the
private sector.
Emerging Markets, Inc. is proud to announce its role as "Food Access
Organization" for the California FreshWorks Fund (CAFWF). The CAFWF is a
public-private partnership loan fund intended to finance grocery stores and
other forms of fresh food retail and distribution in underserved communities
throughout California. The program's creation was driven by The California
Endowment, NCB Capital Impact and other community, industry, philanthropic
and government partners. It has been modeled after the Pennsylvania Fresh
Food Financing Initiative and developed to align with the National Healthy
Food Financing Initiative. Under this program, NCB Capital Impact provides
a combination of pre-development grants and loans, acquisition loans,
equipment financing, and construction and permanent loans to expand access
to healthy foods. On behalf of the Fund, Emerging Markets, Inc. will
conduct statewide outreach, conduct initial applicant interviews and
screening, and develop a pipeline for consideration by NCB Capital Impact.
[JOB DESCRIPTION]
Business Development Officers (BDOs) are responsible for marketing and
explaining the Fund, as well as sourcing, evaluating, and assisting
potential applicants. The Business Development Officer works under general
supervision of an Emerging Markets' Director, exercising significant
initiative and independent judgment in the performance of his or her
responsibilities. A dotted-line relationship will also exist with NCB
Capital Impact's FreshWorks program managers.

of all working hours spent outside of the office. A candidate should be
willing to spend a week or more on the road regularly, travelling to all of
