Greetings,
Last chance to register for the “Small Business, Entrepreneurship, and
Economic Recovery Conference: A Focus on Job Creation and Economic
Stabilization,” a national research and policy conference hosted by the
Federal Reserve Banks of Atlanta and Dallas and the Ewing Marion Kauffman
Foundation. The conference will be held on October 26-27, 2010, at the
Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, 1000 Peachtree Street, NE, Atlanta, GA
30309.
As the nation begins to recover from the recession, small business has
become the focal point of media attention and policy discussions. The
sector employs nearly half of all Americans, accounts for a large
percentage of job creation, and, by some accounts, creates more jobs than
larger firms at the start of an economic recovery. These conditions have
set the stage for a timely dialogue about the latest empirical research
and policy studies to inform local, state and federal decision making
about small business issues in the months and years to come.
This conference will bring together authors of current small business
research with policy makers and practitioners. Keynote speakers include:
* Mark Doms, Chief Economist, U.S. Department of Commerce
* John Haltiwanger, Professor of Economics, University of Maryland,
College Park
* Brian Headd, Economist, Office of Advocacy, U.S. Small Business
Administration
* Lisa Servon, Professor, Milano, The New School for Management and Urban
Policy
* Ivonne Cunarro, Chief Knowledge Officer, Minority Business Development
Agency, U.S. Department of Commerce
Conference papers will address many topics, among them: the effectiveness
of business incubation, credit availability and financing for emerging
firms, the role of self employment, trends in small business lending, and
the implications of innovation and uncertainty on entrepreneurship.
Only a few seats are remaining, so register soon. Registration will close
on Thursday, October 21. For more information including the full agenda
