Director, Business Services

CAMBA, Inc. seeks a Director of Small Business Services responsible for the daily operations of the Microloan Program, the Business Seminars and Workshops, and Technical Assistance, including the supervision of 3 program staff members, some fundraising, and reporting to funders. Other responsibilities include program administration, marketing, recruitment, loan application review, loan portfolio management, and on-going program development.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The person filling this position is expected, under general direction, to: (1) manage multiple programs which require contact with external clients and the community; (2) has understanding of all aspects of contract requirements and communicate this understanding to staff; and (3) participate in program design; including the following:



* Coordinate and supervise programmatic activities of direct reporting staff.

* Oversee all program operations and manage direct reporting program staff and their subordinates.

* Work with direct reporting staff to set staff performance targets in accordance with contract requirements.

* Develop and document all program activities and procedures.

* Manage a CDFI loan portfolio and collections activities

* Maintain relations with and write reports to funders

* Assist in the development of marketing strategy and material for the department.

* Design and/or upgrade small business development course curricula

* Co-facilitate business workshops, 60-hour business seminar and monthly "Credit Repair & Money Management" workshop.

* Provide technical assistance to entrepreneurs and small business owners.

* Identify fundraising options and work with the development staff to write proposals and pursue funding.

* Forge partnerships and/or collegial relations with small business, economic development and governmental organizations throughout Brooklyn and New York City.

* Manage program expenditures in collaboration with the fiscal department.

* Develop and implement Quality Assurance measures to ensure quality service delivery to clients.

* Prepare, review and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of, contract reports and statistical information for both CAMBA management and funder use.

* Participate in staff/funder/outside agency meetings and outreach events as requested.

* Interact with funders.



Minimum Education/Experience Required:

* Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) in Business, Economics, Finance, or related field and/or three years of applicable/equivalent experience required. MBA preferred



Other Requirements:

* Excellent organizational and project management skills, including a superb ability to multi-task and handle multiple deadlines and priorities.

* Demonstrated leadership skills with helping a team hit targets, troubleshooting through challenging situations, coaching, etc Experience in the field of microenterprise or a small business operator with experience in a teaching or training environment.

* Experience in managing complex programs, multiple staff and constantly competing priorities Experience in small business underwriting, lending, CDFI, portfolio management or similar lending.

* Experience working with small businesses, community-based organizations, community groups and/or government programs a must.

* Experience working with multi-cultural clients and familiarity with the economic issues of a low-income client base.

* Strong initiative and creative ability to expand program goals.

* Strong interpersonal skills

* Superior writing, oral, and presentation skills.

* Uses data to make decisions and set strategy

* Excellent MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) skills required; and

* Public speaking experience
