Many of you know that I met with officials from Bank of America at their
recent shareholders meeting. What was not reported in the press was that
there was a meeting with Barbara Desoer regarding the problems many have
experienced with their servicing and loan modification programs. She did not
believe that there were problems with the system and challenged me to produce
evidence that BOFA had actually began foreclosure proceedings or foreclosed
on a person while the person was applying for or in a trial mod.
They bragged that they had hired 15,000 people to handle loan
modifications and were completing 2000 a month you do the math. That is less than 2
modifications a year per employee.
I am attempting to document how widespread problems are with their
servicing department and the implementation of their HAMP loan modification
program. Please take the time to complete this survey and to pass it on to as
many housing counselors, housing advocates, attorneys or others
intermediaries who may be willing to complete it.
All responses are completely anonymous unless you choose to complete
question 15 which asks for your job title and email address,
My goal is to share the results of this survey with Ms. Desoer at our next
meeting in April. The survey will stay open until March31.
