Hello all,

I am working on building a local community investment structure, recently
during a slow money symposium the topic of risk and guarantees were
highlighted. This is the fly in ointment. How do we work with accelerating
the creation of local sustainable enterprises where 30% of them fail such
as in the food industry, with low interest non risk tolerant capital?

I have been thinking that getting a handle on the risk guarantee part is
key, besides building good plans and ideas and management teams. I have
noticed that in Europe Risk Guarantee Societies have been going strong for
a long time. The concept of pooling the risk together and promoting best
practices and ideally mutual support sounds like a good plan.

I am sure many of you play that role of offering guarantees, however are
any of you involved in Risk Guarantee Funds(pools) or societies?
What models do we have here in America? Where can I find them?

In Europe according to this power point there are 2.5 million businesses
involved in Risk Guarantee societies.
