The House Financial Services Committee is holding a hearing on January 13th
at 2 PM to discuss the use of Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP) Funds
under the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (EESA). This hearing
will help decide how the second half of the $700 billion authorized in

a letter to your Representative. We have provided a suggested letter below
that asks Congress to encourage the House Financial Services Committee to
include a Capital for Communities Recovery Program in the legislation that
(1) sets aside $1 billion of the $700 billion for CDFIs to support lending
to and investing in low and moderate income communities and people; and (2)
establishes an affirmative obligation on institutions that receive funding
under the Capital Purchase Program to support CDFIs.
