ACCION USA is a private, nonprofit organization that provides microloans
and other financial services to low- and moderate-income entrepreneurs
who are unable to access bank credit for their small businesses. With
economic opportunity, these entrepreneurs-often minorities and
women-build assets, better provide for their families, and strengthen
their communities. For the past five years, ACCION has received Fast
Company's Social Capitalist Award

for "changing the world by using entrepreneurial genius to solve some of
the most daunting social problems."


General Job Summary: The Associate will work closely with a five-member
Resource Development team to help raise funds for ACCION USA's
operations from both public and private sources. The Associate's
primary responsibility will be to secure grants from institutions who
seek to improve communities through the support of microfinance. The
Associate will focus primarily on developing research, proposals, and
reports in support of local fundraising initiatives in ACCION USA's
Massachusetts and New York markets.



Duties and responsibilities



Proposal Development - 50%

Work closely with the Resource Development Director to secure renewal
and new funding from foundations and corporations. Drive the grant
writing process for regional funders by: gathering necessary information
for proposals; coordinating meetings with relevant staff to determine
objectives; corresponding with funding sources regarding application
materials and questions; helping to develop budgets; and writing,
editing, and submitting proposals on a timely basis.



Donor Reporting - 30%

Coordinate reporting process, gathering necessary information for
reports and coordinating meetings with relevant staff to identify
activities to report on. Ensure that necessary evaluation mechanisms
have been put in place to facilitate donor reporting.



Miscellaneous - 20%

Other duties as required including contract administration/reporting,
individual giving, events, and coordination with local advisory boards



Qualifications



* Bachelor's degree or equivalent
* Excellent writing and editing skills
* Strong intellectual curiosity and a passion for research.
Interest in microfinance a plus
* Highly self-motivated
* Deadline-driven
* Detail-oriented
* Demonstrated written and oral English language skills and
ability to communicate ideas effectively
* Ability to synthesize materials into simple, clear and concise
language
* Excellent organizational skills and the ability to establish and
implement organizational systems
* Ability to deal effectively with a wide range of individuals,
including donors, volunteers and staff
* Ability to work as a team member as well as independently
* Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Knowledge of
Raiser's Edge a plus
* Commitment to the ACCION USA mission, values and culture
* Positive, can-do attitude
* Sense of humor
