The Lower East Side People's FCU is a $20million community development
credit union with branches on the Lower East Side and Central Harlem of
New York. We are looking for a marketing and outreach specialist as

Marketing and Outreach Specialist, Lower East Side People's FCU
Reports to: CEO
Requirements: Bachelor's Degree or at least two years related
experience in sales, retail, marketing and/or business development. A
Financial Services background is preferred.
Qualifications: Fluency in Spanish and English is required.
Applicant must demonstrate ability to meet and interact effectively with
potential members and work effectively within a team as well as public
speaking, writing, proof-reading, organizational and interpersonal
skills. Experience with or knowledge of Community Development Credit
Unions (CDCUs), Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), or
Community Banks is also a plus.
Employment Status: Exempt, Full Time

Duties and Responsibilities
The Marketing and Outreach Specialist is responsible for creating and
executing a marketing plan and budget for all branches, and ultimately
expanding the credit union's personal and business account base. As
part of these duties, the Marketing and Outreach Specialist will also be
responsible for putting together the credit union's yearly Annual Report
(layout, design, translations) and public relations - writing press
releases and developing relationships with local media - to facilitate
the growth of LESPFCU.
An important aspect of this job is outreach. The position requires
meeting with potential personal and non-profit account members - at
events, organization meetings, and at any function deemed appropriate by
the CEO -- and potential business members at their place of business,
events or meetings. The position will also require weekend and evening
work (up to 50%).
The Marketing and Outreach Specialist will supervise the work of a VISTA
volunteer.
Marketing and Business Development
* Disseminate, through mass media, events, or one-on-one meetings,
appropriate information on products, services and programs to service
the market LESPFCU serves (which currently includes Community Board 3,
Community Board 10 and city-wide HDFC buildings).
* Develop relationships with local media, community information
outlets and other venues to advertise the programs and services of
LESPFCU.
* Develop and maintain relationships with community partners,
local businesses, non-profits and organizations to meet their financial
needs and those of their constituents.
* Prepare and disseminate LESPFCU marketing and outreach materials
to area businesses, organizations, and in press packets.
* Translate all marketing materials.
* Prepare LESPFCU's monthly and quarterly member statement
inserts.
* With IT Specialist, maintain LESPFCU's website content with
updated information on products, services, rates and contacts.
* Perform research as needed with regards to our current products
and services.
Public Relations
* Develop and maintain relationships with business and non-profit
organizations to identify opportunities for LESPFCU's growth and
resource development through various means including correspondence and
meeting attendance.
* Create press releases as needed to disseminate information on
innovative programs and partnerships to a national audience in order to
demonstrate to a broad range of socially responsible investors the work
of LESPFCU.
* Participate in community fairs, carnivals, block parties and
other outdoor activities that provide LESPFCU the opportunity to display
and represent the organization, its products and services. .
Event Organizing
* Help coordinate our yearly Annual Meeting by ordering giveaways
and creating the invitations.
* Supervise the development of LESPFCU's events and programs to
maximize community involvement, raise resources and recognize key
supporters of LESPFCU.
* Help coordinate and organize community financial literacy
workshops with the Financial Education Coordinator.
Other
* Submit monthly reports to CEO regarding tactics used to execute
marketing strategy,
Perform all other duties assigned by management for the smooth and
efficient operation of the CU.
