Dear Colleagues:
The NCIF Annual Development Banking Conference is fast approaching, and will be held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, November 6th and 7th, 2008. Please join us as the 2008 NCIF conference will bring together a wide range of experts to talk about issues of importance to the Community Development Banking Institution (CDBI) industry. The agenda is available by clicking here<http://www.ncif.org/index.php/comms/conference-agenda/>. ('http://www.ncif.org/index.php/comms/conference-agenda/>.') To register and to make hotel arrangements, please visit www.ncif.org<http://www.ncif.org>. ('http://www.ncif.org>.') The deadline to secure an overnight room is Friday, October 24th.
Conference Highlights
NCIF is pleased to announce the Keynote Speakers for the event:
* The Honorable Donna Gambrell; Director, CDFI Fund & Interim Chief of Homeownership Preservation, Treasury Department
* Mr. Michael Calhoun; President, Center for Responsible Lending, will talk on the Policy Implications of the current economic crisis for development finance.
* Mr. Daniel Sullivan; Director of Research and Senior Vice President, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, will talk on the economic outlook.
NCIF has crafted the agenda so that the panels are responsive to the current economic landscape. Conference sessions will cover:
* Social and Mainstream Investors Supporting Community Development Banking Institutions
* The Changing Economic Landscape and Opportunities for CDFI Banks
* Mergers, Acquisitions and Valuation
* Community Development Impact
We are also pleased to announce that NCIF plans to use its NMTC Allocation of $30 million to invest in transactions that promote a 3-way partnership between mainstream investors, CDBI banks (and NCIF). This will promote quick delivery of capital to distressed neighborhoods and also help in strengthening the CDFI sector. A special session explaining this strategy has been added to the conference agenda.
We look forward to seeing you in Chicago. For more information, please contact me at 312.881.5817 or via email at jschmidt@ncif.org<mailto:jschmidt@ncif.org>.
