Principal Responsibilities

The Community Facilities Loan Officer will work with the commercial
lending team to originate loans, primarily for charter school facilities
in New Markets-eligible (i.e., low-income) areas, throughout the
country. The loan officer will also be responsible for outreach to
represent Self-Help among charter school networks. Ongoing
responsibilities include marketing and analyzing charter school and
other community facility loan requests, researching and preparing loan
recommendations to the Credit Committee, monitoring loans originated,
restructuring loans when appropriate. All loan officers at Self-Help
are expected to meet annual loan production goals. This position
requires frequent travel to conferences and prospective and existing
borrowers.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a financial and/or education background
with a good understanding of balance sheet and income statement
analysis. A college degree or comparable experience is essential. Four
years experience in education, nonprofit management, or small business
lending, assistance or management is desirable, with preference given to
candidates with two years of secured lending or education/nonprofit
administration experience. An advanced degree in business, education,
planning/policy, or law can substitute for lending experience. Strong
written and verbal communications skills are necessary. Mastery of
spreadsheet programs is required. We have a strong interest in working
with schools led by people of color. Sensitivity to issues of
low-wealth borrowers and a desire to work in a racially and socially
diverse organization are essential. And, teamwork and an interest in the
development of co-workers are important Self-Help values. Spanish
language skills are a plus.

Compensation

Competitive non-profit salary based on experience, plus a generous
