Dear Colleagues - the Iowa Department of Economic Development has created a new program to fund community-based organizations to provide microenterprise training and TA services. Below is the job description. The program was created based on recommendations from a report commissioned by the Iowa Legislature which we co-authored with the Child and Family Policy Center. CLASSIFICATION: Administrative Assistant 4-Microenterprise Program Manager
LOCATION: Des Moines, Polk County
DEPARTMENT: Iowa Department of Economic Development
STATUS: Non-Contract/ Full-time
MINIMUM SALARY: $45,676.80 annually
MAXIMUM SALARY: $70,844.80 annually
DESCRIPTION: The Innovation and Commercialization Division within the Iowa Department of Economic Development (IDED) has an opening for a Microenterprise Program Manager. This position will be responsible for collecting, analyzing and disseminating data which promotes economic development activity; establishing and working with the Microenterprise Development Advisory Committee, public and private community development organizations, and IDED staff to develop and implement a program to support low and moderate income individuals in the creation of new or expansion of existing microenterprises; represent and promote IDED in order to establish and maintain contacts and cooperative relationships to further microenterprise development in Iowa; and, work with the Iowa business community and government representatives to ensure clients and community/organization leaders have current information and awareness of IDED's programs and services including economic incentives.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in community planning, business, or related field required; experience may be substituted for education.
