investments in the affordable housing, social enterprise and fair trade

Sr. Investment Officer Job Description:



Calvert Foundation seeks an experienced lending professional with a
background in lending to social enterprises, non-profits, and/or small
businesses, to serve as a Sr. Investment Officer. We are looking for an
individual who seeks to use her/his experience and education to make a
difference in the world and help channel capital to underprivileged
communities in the United States and abroad.

The Sr. Investment Officer reports to the Executive Vice President and
Chief Lending Officer and is responsible for managing relationships with
current and prospective borrowers and overseeing the credit quality of
loans within his/her portfolio. The Sr. Investment Officer will have
specific responsibility for managing the Fair Trade and Social
Enterprise Portfolios, which includes domestic and international
organizations. This position will also be responsible for managing one
or more investment professionals and Calvert Foundation's relationships
with underwriting analysts.

Primary Responsibilities and Skills

The Sr. Investment Officer will:

* Manage a portfolio of Program Related Investments and Mission
Related Investments in non-profits, social enterprises and other mission
based organizations.

* Create and implement portfolio strategies for the Fair Trade
and Social Enterprise portfolios, including identification of capital
sources and new borrower relationships.

* Manage risks and credit quality of her/his portfolios

* Identify new business development opportunities. Generate and
monitor a pipeline of investment opportunities.

* Evaluate due diligence reviews, including financial analysis,
and make recommendations for new loans to prospective borrowers and
increases to current borrowers.

* Review and adjust financial models to appropriately risk
score loans.

* Prepare and present investment recommendations for approval
of new transactions and policies to appropriate Investment Committees.

* Identify high risk loans and prepare written analysis for
classified assets; re-structure troubled loans; and implement work-outs.


* Market Calvert Foundation products and services to the Fair
Trade and Social Enterprise industries through attendance, presentations
and networking at conferences and participation in trade association
organizations

* An ability to travel up to 20% of the time



We seek a talented and socially responsible individual with
skills/background/education in the areas of affordable housing,
community development and social enterprise, with a passion for using
investment as a tool to alleviate poverty.



The successful candidate will have:

* A minimum of a Masters in Business Administration or Public
Policy or equivalent experience.

* 5 - 8 years of relationship management, credit and/or loan
underwriting experience

* Experience managing professionals or a team

* Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access Database
software. Proficiency with Nortridge database system is a plus.

* Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize
competing demands.

* Excellent communication and writing skills.

* A "can-do" attitude, with strong problem solving skills.
