Dear Listserv subscribers,
I write because I seek employment and would be a valuable asset to any
organization in a field related community banking, financial services,
and/or policy. I am a highly motivated creative thinker with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Policy Analysis and Management (PAM) from Cornell
University. Currently, I am the Outreach Coordinator for the Institute for
American Values (IAV), a nonpartisan think tank located in midtown
Manhattan. At the IAV my primary responsibility has been preparation for
our recent conference in Washington, DC: "Confronting the Debt Culture."
The conference was a collaborative event in which academics, experts and
leaders in the community banking industry met to discuss how to renew Thrift
as a value in the American cultural landscape. I spent months calling,
meeting with, and drafting letters to prospective signatories, attendees and
presenters. Additionally I helped prepare the agenda and contributed to the
logistical planning and execution of the event.
The IAV is a small organization, with only 5 employees in the New York
office. This gave me the opportunity to share in all levels of preparation
for the event, as well as to participate in the day-to-day operations of the
Institute. The project I have been working on, The New Thrift, is a
national campaign by the IAV to confront the linked problems of high rates
of personal and societal debt, low savings, and growing inequality. You can
read more at www.newthrift.org <http://www.newthrift.org/> ('http://www.newthrift.org/>') .
My diligence, academic background and relevant experience make me an ideal
candidate for a position that involves any combination of community
outreach, writing, financial analysis, policy analysis, administrative tasks
and event coordinating. I currently live outside New York City but am open
to travel and relocation. Please email me at: MichaelLevSchuman@gmail.com.
My resume is included below.
Thank you for your consideration.
