I am working with National Equity Fund on a Local Initiative Support Corp/National Equity Fund and National Cooperative Bank Development Services to implement an initiative to develop affordable assisted living facilities for low-income seniors in Illinois.

The initiative is for three years to work with nonprofits to develop community based affordable Assisted Living Facilities. There will be grant monies and predevelopment loans available as well as technical assistance provided. We provide technical assistance and establish workshops with nonprofits interested in this type of senior housing.

Many nonprofits do not know of the opporunity that exists to serve elderly though the Illinois Dept of Public Aid Supportive Living Program. This program is a medicaid waiver program to provide funding for services to seniors within a housing development. We provide assistance and resources to area nonprofits whose mission is to house frail at risk elderly.

Prior to joining NEF, I worked for Illinois Housing Development Authority as a Senior Program Officer.
