Director of Marketing and Sales
ACCION New York is a non-profit microenterprise development program based in
Williamsburg, Brooklyn. ACCION New York is dedicated to increasing incomes
and creating jobs in low-income communities across the New York City metro
area by providing microentrepreneurs with access to credit and business
support services not available from traditional sources of credit such as
the commercial banking sector. We offer a "hand-up" to those striving to
support themselves and their families through small business initiatives.
Through our loans and services, we help microentrepreneurs strengthen their
businesses, stabilize their incomes, create additional employment and
contribute to the economic revitalization of their communities. The program
currently has loans to more than 670 borrowers located in the boroughs of
Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island. ACCION New York
has provided more than 3000 microloans since its inception in 1991.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide strategic vision and recommendations toward the shaping of
products and processes to effectively serve our clients.
2. Direct the marketing program and community outreach for aggressive
program growth. This includes promoting the ACCION program and brand and
fostering relationships with our many community partners. Create new
partnerships to enhance marketing program with public and private sector
entities such as advertising firms, banks, media and governmental agencies.
Expand operations and outreach into the tri-state area. Manage staff and
volunteers dedicated to the marketing effort.
3. Supervise the day to day activities of the mobile lending team and
work closely with the loan processing and servicing, credit underwriting and
loan collections areas. Provide direct mentoring to all related staff and
conduct weekly briefing meetings.
4. Review credits for approval and for submission to credit committee.
5. Present portfolio results to the Board and review policy and
procedural changes with the External Policy and Credit Committee.
6. Assist in fundraising initiatives as requested.
7. Recruit staff as necessary. Coordinate and conduct technical
training for all lending staff.
Qualifications:
1. Motivated and energetic individual capable of managing a wide range
of human resource and program issues related to a dynamic and growing
program.
2. Minimum of three years of management experience. Marketing or sales
management experience preferred.
3. Consumer or corporate loan underwriting training preferred.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Team Player.
5. Bilingual English/Spanish.
6. Computer proficiency.
7. College degree required. MBA or MA in Economic Development, Public
Policy or related degree preferred.
