Position Title: Community Development Investments Associate
Working Location: San Francisco, CA
Overview: *The incumbent for this exciting opportunity will generate and disseminate new ideas on community development finance through research, writing, convenings, and other outreach. The ideal candidate would be both intellectually curious about and interested in practical applications of various community development and community development finance issues.
Must have a strong understanding of both community development and finance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing new initiatives that further the goal of the Center for Community Development Investments, which is to lower the cost of capital, and increase its flow to low-income communities. The ideal candidate must be able to operate independently, with occasional oversight, supervise projects, and keep upper management adequately informed.
Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of two-years experience in community development finance.
Solid analytic, problem solving, and written and oral communication skills, including the ability to make presentations to large groups. Superior organizational skills along with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Research skills to investigate the multifaceted aspects of community development finance. A strong background in the nuts and bolts of community development finance (particularly with many of the specific investment programs such as the Low Income Housing Tax Credit, the New Markets Tax Credit, the Community Reinvestment Act, etc.). The ability to organize small local, to large national conferences on community development finance issues. Proficiency with computer programs, including all of Microsoft Office Suite. Public speaking skills; will be periodically be asked to speak at conferences and give an internal presentation or briefing. A willingness maintain strong working relationships with other community development finance researchers and practitioners in other institutions (e.g., universities, other Federal Reserve Banks, financial institutions, foundations, and think tanks). Ability to manage outside contractors (writers, editors, conference planners, etc.) along with an occasional graduate student conducting research for the Center for Community Development Investments.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
Strong understanding of finance concepts,
Technology – understanding of various software applications
Excellent writing/editing and public speaking skills
Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
