We are following up on the news you just received from our President,
William Abrams, regarding the closeout of our U.S. program. As he
described, due to insufficient funds Trickle Up is unable to invest
the kinds of resources in the program that our partners, and the
entrepreneurs we serve together, expect and deserve.
We are proud of the fact that collectively over 4,000 low income women
and men in the United States have been served with Trickle Up grants
and training through our partner organizations. As we conclude our
work we recognize that no one organization can carry the torch of
expanded opportunity through microequity. We are confident that
through innovation and resourcefulness our partners will continue to
find ways to provide greater access to microentrepreneurs.
Of course we recognize this is a loss for the microenterprise
community and we personally will miss working with many of you in our
capacities as Trickle Up staff. But individually we hope to continue
to contribute to microenterprise development and look forward to
working with you.
We should be wrapping up most of our work by August 31st. Please
