We in Wisconsin are excited to be hosting a joint international conference of the Community Development Society and the National Rural Development Partnership from June 17-20, 2007 in Appleton, Wisconsin. Our theme, "Discover the Magic of Community: History, Change and Regional Development" will explore all the latest trends in development that community and rural development practitioners, educators and policy makers have been working on worldwide.

Our opening reception will feature some magic, as well as our own "Homage to Frommage." The Fox Cities region of Wisconsin is also called the "Paper Valley" because it is home to many paper companies. Monday evening, we will take you to the Paper Discovery Center for a "Badger Tailgate" where you can feast on traditional Badger State foods, and learn to make paper, among other things. The Center is a hands-on museum housed in a former paper factory on the beautiful Fox River. More than 30 restaurants to choose from for Dinner on the Town Tuesday evening. Celebration banquet on Wednesday evening featuring the NRDP's*Ron Shaffer Award and CDS Awards. Kick up your heels afterward to a swinging local jazz band.
