Senators Santorum and Menendez Lead the Effort to Secure CDFI Fund Appropriations

On March 21, Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) and Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) began circulating a letter (http://www.cdfi.org/Uploader/Files/CDFIfy07dc.pdf) of support requesting at least an $80 million appropriation for the CDFI Fund in FY 2007.* The letter is addressed to Senator Bond (R-MO) and Senator Murray (D-WA), Chairman and Ranking Member respectively of the Senate Transportation, Treasury, the Judiciary and Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee with jurisdiction over the CDFI Fund.* The CDFI Coalition is encouraging all United States Senators to sign the letter supporting the continuation of CDFI Fund grant programs.* As of March 23, 13 Senators had committed to sign the letter (see this list of signatures (http://www.cdfi.org/Uploader/Files/signatures2006.doc) to see if your Senator has signed).* Please urge your Senators to sign the letter of support if they haven’t already done so—click here (http://capwiz.com/cdfi/issues/alert/?alertid=8615131) to urge your state delegation to support the CDFI Fund.

We are pleased to announce that the Coalition has arranged with the CDFI Fund to offer three additional sessions at the CDFI Institute – at NO additional cost to participants.* Conducted by CDFI Fund staff, these new mini-training sessions are offered in addition to the opportunity to schedule individual appointments with CDFI Fund staff on Friday, April 28 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM to discuss issues of concern to your institution.* The three newly added sessions on Friday, April 28 are: *

2:00 - 2:45 PM*– “Maps-to-Apps” – The Fund has updated the mapping software that CDFI Applicants must use to designate their proposed Target Markets.* The Fund's staff will demonstrate the expanded software functions during this 45-minute presentation.

2:00 – 2:45 PM – “Community Investment Impact System (CIIS): Investment Level Report” – During this session, the Fund's staff*will focus on how to complete one of the more challenging sections of the Investment Level Report – the income and expenses questions. *You can also use this opportunity to get your other Investment Level Report questions answered by the CIIS experts.

3:00 – 3:45 PM*– “CIIS: Transaction Level Report” – This session will focus on how to use Excel to upload your Transaction Level Report to CIIS.* Learn time-saving tips for completing the Transaction Level Report so that your data passes the CIIS validations and you can submit your data successfully without a lot of unnecessary trial and error.
