On May 5, HUD Secretary Cuomo is conducting a free conference regarding
elderly housing issues. In conjunction with Social Security, Administration
on Aging, Treasury Department and Health and Human Services, this conference
proposes to bring together key people to discuss living options for older
Americans. This is an important conference and we would like your
assistance in helping us to spread the word.

As this country's population ages, it becomes increasingly important to
address the special needs of our oldest citizens. Recognizing the
significance of this issue to all Americans, the U.S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development (HUD) is sponsoring Keeping the American Dream:
Meeting the Challenges of the Golden Years. This conference will bring
together officials from Federal agencies along with representatives from
industry, non-profits and advocacy organizations to promote joint efforts
that can deliver the housing and other services needed to enhance the lives
of older Americans, particularly those with limited incomes and in need of
medical attention.

Topics to be discussed include:

New assisted living options Service
coordinators
Native American housing for elders HOPE VI and
older Americans
Older Americans and mental health Reverse
mortgages
Accessing block grants and other HUD resources Section 202 housing
Combining HUD funding & Medicare/Medicaid waivers
