COMMUNITY EXPRESS PROJECT COORDINATOR

NCRC has an opening for a Community Express Project Coordinator. This is an
AmeriCorps*VISTA position and will begin in May. The person in this position
will help implement "Community Express," a national pilot program of small
business lending and technical assistance, working with major national
financial institutions, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and
community-based nonprofit technical assistance providers.

NCRC is a national nonprofit trade association with over 680 members,
working to increase access to financial services and loan products in
low-income, minority and other under-served communities. NCRC seeks to
address economic inequality by supporting long-term solutions that provide
resources, knowledge, and skills to build community and individual net
wealth.

Responsibilities of the Community Express Project Coordinator:
… Develop relationships and maintain contact with the local nonprofit
technical assistance (TA) providers, participating lenders, and appropriate
SBA staff.
… In collaboration with other participants, help monitor and evaluate the
program by reviewing loan performance data and conducting surveys and field
assessments;
… Assist in marketing Community Express through NCRC's nationwide member
network and other avenues;
… Convene bimonthly conference calls with participating lenders and TA
providers;
… Research local efforts across the country by local government, nonprofit
organizations, and other local entities to stimulate small business
development in underprivileged communities, and work to encourage synergy
among these efforts and the Community Express program;
… Facilitate enhancement of local TA provision through skill sharing by more
experienced TA providers, discovery and promotion of training opportunities,
and information exchange;
… Compose regular reports on the Pilot to Community Express Participants and
NCRC's Board.
… As directed by Supervisor, handle other duties related to NCRC's
development of wealth-building strategies in low/moderate-income and
minority communities.

Preferred Qualifications:
… Familiarity with the economic and social conditions facing low-wealth and
minority communities;
… Understanding of community lending, small business development and
economic development;
… Ability to assemble and write timely, comprehensive and accurate reports;
… Experience in community-based organizations, small business development
entities, and/or small business lending institutions is helpful, but not
essential.
… Internet experience and familiarity with Macintosh computers helpful, but
not essential.
… Excellent telephone, writing, and speaking skills
