Third Story Consulting, a consulting firm serving community-based and
regional housing development organizations and Community Development
Financial Intermediaries (CDFIs), is looking to hire an associate. Third
Story Consulting is a small, mission-driven company that works with a
diverse array of national intermediaries; CDFIs; and economic development
and urban and rural housing organizations across the country but with a
particular focus on New York City.
Third Story Consulting provides expertise in the following areas:
* Design and start-up services for community development organizations
and CDFIs;
* Design and implementation of affordable and special needs housing
programs;
* Organizational development, particularly for start-up and newer
organizations;
* Program financial design and implementation;
* Project financial structuring;
* Loan underwriting and packaging;
* Strategic and business planning;
* Capitalization strategies for CDFIs; and,
* Grant and proposal writing.
Position
This position has responsibilities across the full range of Third Story's
activities, reporting directly to the president of the organization. The
position will be part-time or full-time based on the several factors,
including skills and experience of applicant. Compensation based on
experience and qualifications.
Qualifications
It is expected that the qualified applicant will have a college degree and a
minimum of 2 years of development experience with a nonprofit community
development organization, CDFI or in a related field. Specific
qualifications should include:
* Experience and knowledge of program and/or project design and
development;
* Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and work with staff,
consultants and board members from a wide diversity of backgrounds;
* Experience and knowledge of affordable housing finance, CDFI and/or
economic development programs, among other community development
initiatives;
* Experience analyzing and preparing organizational and project
budgets;
* Excellent verbal and written skills; and,
* Commitment to issues of economic equality and social justice.
