The Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce for Boonton, Boonton Township, and
Mountain Lakes NEW JERSEY has voted to explore local currency. We have
the information from Ithaca and the various WEB sites listed there.
There are plus, minus and interesting aspects to this inquiry -- the
interesting downside risk is most important at this time. Please reply
directly to jteck@pica.army.mil if that seems appropriate, rather than
the whole CDBanking list.
PLUS The positive experiences have you had with
Community Development that included local currency.
MINUS Specific lessons learned that signal caution
or that suggest development of alternative strategies.
INTERESTING The Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce President noticed
that a couple of members were negative because they could not be told
about the downside risk of starting local currency (Money), then having
its support organization loose interest. What might happen, or better
yet what has happened in such cases? Does the Money keep circulating?
Did people get hurt who had Money, and how bad was it?
Available as a "thank you" by e-mail, choose one of these drafts:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----
"New Paradigms for Local Currency." Community Development may be one
of the long term goals, but how do you get people's continuous short
term interest and the volunteers so local currency works well:
Businesses; Educational Institutions; Others?
"The Advantages of Local Currency for Businesses" How it Works; How
to Take Advantage; How to Spend
"The Local Currency Learning Experience" for High Schools, Colleges &
Universities, and for Adults: Let's Get Started; The Kick-Off Meeting;
Continued Operations; End of Learning Period. Features a list of 28
skills developed and lessons that might be learned.
"Local Currency Marketing Strategy and Plan," Customer Groups and
Appeals; Selling Strategy/Accessibility Strategy; the Eight Marketing
Tools.
Just in case, please put your e-mail address and choice at the beginning
of your reply. Mention the e-mail system you use (if known) -- can you
accept BOLD and other enriched texts? jt
