LIBRARIES AS LEADERS IN COMMUNITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
- A TWO DAY INTERNATIONAL PRE-CONFERENCE TO THE CLA (Canadian Library Association) CONFERENCE
TUESDAY, JUNE 16, 1998, 9 AM - 5 PM.

The Victoria Conference Centre Auditorium, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
This unique, two-day event will combine process with product: The outcome will be a set of strategies, useable models, and skill sets/competencies for libraries to follow in order to become actively involved in local economic development.
* Experts in libraries and economic development will come from a wide range of countries and backgrounds. Countries represented to date include the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, Canada, Australia.
* Strategies and models will be identified and developed jointly by the speakers and participants.
* The process: A lively combination of expert presentations and dialogues, audience involvement, and interactive participant sessions.
