Hi, I am looking for some microfinance software for possible use by
several local organizations in various countries in Africa. Both
English and French systems (and Portuguese) are needed. The software
must run on PCs and preferably (but not necessarily) be Windows-based.
Thanks for any suggestions.

The Microenterprise Best Practices Project (MBP), a USAID funded research
project managed by DAI, is currently conducting research on MIS and
microfinance. MBP is developing a framework for evaluating MIS products
and their applicability to microfinance. The goal of this research is to
produce a "Consumer Report" or manual for organizations that are looking at
purchasing or designing a system. This report will then be followed up by
several case studies that examine both commercial systems and in-house
developed systems. The research is in the preliminary stages, but the
Consumer Report should be available sometime in the Spring of this year.
For more information on MBP research, grants and publications (all free),
please visit our website at www.mip.org.
