Sorry for the brevity and spelling. To much work and not enough time.

The question was asked re: Does anyone out there have experience of similar
programmes?

I have worked with a development foundation in St. Lucia that lends money to
mirco people. My recomendations

1. Have your loan officers keep your clients books (for a small fee) let the
business person run their business, trying to teach mirco people accounting is
a waste of time for most people. Also if you do the books you have a better
handle on the status of the business.

2. Give lots of technical assistance. Enlist volunteer assistance from Chamber
of Commerce or Rotary Club etc. Have sucessful business people volunteer to
mentor to your micro clients. LINKAGES with service clubs give them projects
and you access to free human resources

3. Start Young Enterprise Scheme or Junior Acheivement programme in Secondary
schools to help identify potential entreperurs. Also the Duke of Edinburo
Awards Scheme

4. Look at the Princes Business Trust in the UK as a model for youth enterprise
development.

5. Start a Youth Business Trust to chanel grant funds to start up youth micro
businesses.

Hope this helps
