Business in Germany

I am looking for information on business development in Germany. I have a
potential project developing there and need to know:
1. the federal/"state" government supports available for new business
2. the traditional process for owning your own business (I understand it
is not as open as USA)
3. typical (and not so typical) sources of start-up and expansion
financing
