Hello folks, This is my third message on internet and I hope it gets thorugh.
I just completed a seminar today. I am doing a piece for Grassroots
Economic Organizing Newsletter on the innovative uses of worker owned
and consumer cooperatives in Canada's maritime provic
provinces to stabilize employment and stem some of the losses due to the
depeletion of fishing grounds. In the course of my interviews I've run
into RATNA dollars out of Halifax. It turns out this is a start up
local money, modelled somewhat on local money in Vancouver. They also
say there's a local money in Manitoba. Evidently the Canadians know
lots that we don't. Any info on this stuff? I'd be most grateful for
any leads. It is clear we will have to devote a whole issue of GEO to
this topic. We are somewhat familiar with Ithica Dollars. But any leads
on or off line would be great. Thanks, Bob Stone. My e-mail address is
rstone@eagle.liunet.edu How did I do?
