Hi,
As a new subscriber to this list, I would like to introduce
myself and the agency I work for. I'm Bill Stirling,
manager of the Bishop's Falls Development Corporation, a
community-based non-profit agency established in 1989 to
enhance economic diversification in the area.
Bishop's Falls is a town of 4200 people located in central
Newfoundland (Eastern Canada), with a diverse and growing
manufacturing base. The BFDC administers an investment fund
aimed at generating meaningful long-term employment through
a sound program of economic diversification. We are
targeting small manufacturing, processing and technology
sectors, and are having some success in that regard.
I would be interested in hearing from other similar
organizations on this list. From what I have seen so far,
most discusion is related to social issues; I am more
interested in community-based business or economic
development funding issues
I look forward to your response.
