Your desription of the local currency approach as a tool for community
development is intriguing. Do you have a source that would describe this
program in detail? Also are you aware of this type of approach being
used in a less developed country in Africa or Asia or Latin America?

The person who is most versed in Ithaca Hours is Paul Glover who was in
the center of its creation- he is on this list and can also be reached
through ITHACAHOUR@aol.com. Actual a lot of the theory and some of the
prctices, interenationally are well documentd by the TOES peo0ple (The
Othere Economic Summit) and is a rather substantial body of literature
dealing with both local currencies and variances on bartering. there is
much concern by the establishment here in the US, particularly the IRS
regarding these alternative economies for obvious reasons. Pual has
pointed out that the local credit union in Ithaca does take their local
script.
