Lending Manager\Small Business Lender
Lower East Side People’s Federal Credit Union
Reports to: Credit Union Manager Supervises: Loan Officers
Background:
The Lower East Side People's Federal Credit Union (LESPFCU) is a federally chartered and -regulated nonprofit [501(c)(1)] community development credit union serving primarily low- and moderate-income people on New York City's Lower East Side.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Oversee all areas of lending, including but not limited to small business, real estate and consumer lending programs.
-Supervise lending staff and outside lending consultants.
-Update and train staff as needed to ensure efficient operation of the department.
-Serve as a Loan Officer. Underwrite, approve and close loans as needed with a focus on small business and commercial real estate lending for growing community development financial institution.
-Coordinate with the Manager to develop and implement appropriate loan products and programs to best serve the needs of the membership.
-Coordinate with the Director of Marketing and Product Development to develop member education for lending programs and to market all lending products.
-Coordinate with the credit committee for loans exceeding loan officer authority.
-Establish goals for all areas of lending with the Board and the Manager. Ensure those goals are met.
-Evaluate and monitor lending programs regularly with the Manager. Prepare reports for board and the Manager.
-Ensure that the credit union is in compliance with all lending regulations and that the staff are updated and trained as needed.
-Participate in yearly Strategic Planning
-Perform other duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
-Bachelors Degree; an advanced degree and/or additional professional training are highly desirable.
-At least seven years of experience in banking or non-profit lending with a minimum of five years of experience in commercial, real estate lending and small business lending.
-Strong leadership skills with at least five years of supervisory experience.
-Ability to work in a diverse community and a face paced work environment.
-Understanding of community development and/or cooperative mission and principles
Additional Qualifications:
-Excellent Interpersonal and Communication Skills.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office and Loan Workstation or comparable lending software.
-Spanish Speaking preferred.
