CLT Program Director

The City of Lakes Community Land Trust is an exciting new organization whose mission is to provide and foster stewardship of permanently affordable ownership and rental housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income families throughout Minneapolis.* The CLCLT’s Initial Board is seeking a qualified leader who can move the CLCLT from a planning and organizational development stage through to implementation.

The CLT Program Director will be the lead staff person for the new City of Lakes Community Land Trust and be responsible for all components of the organization.*

Specific responsibilities include: Work with the volunteer Board of Directors to manage and coordinate the activities of the CLCLT, including finalizing the organization’s IRS 501 (c)(3) status, standard ground lease, fundraising for organizational and project expenses, and other activities Manage and supervise in-house staff, contracted and consulting services Manage and coordinate partnerships with existing affordable housing developers to get housing units into the CLCLT on an aggressive and on-going basis Establish a Buyer-Initiated Program Establish system for identifying and preparing eligible buyers for CLT homeownership, including developing buyer selection guidelines and process Establish lending sources for CLT buyers Represent the CLCLT with the public, including promoting and advocating the CLCLT’s mission and purpose to funders, lenders, partners, members and the general public Participate in forums relating to the CLT’s work, including, but not limited to, the Minnesota Coalition of CLTs and the Minneapolis Consortium of Community Developer’s Housing Committee) Publicize and market the CLCLT with public and private entities Establish membership materials for all categories of members (lessee, individual and organizational), recruit new members Establish system for CLT homeowner post-purchase support Develop process for the resale of CLT homes Additional tasks that may be required to fulfill the mission and purpose of the CLCLT [/list] The CLT Program Director will report to PRG’s Executive Director [/list]

Essential Skills and Experience: Demonstrated commitment to social and economic justice in general, and affordable housing in specific Demonstrated leadership skills, including public speaking, consensus building and the ability to initiate community involvement efforts and run community meetings Demonstrated ability to raise funds for a variety of purposes Public speaking experience, including the ability to develop and articulate the CLT model and a vision of the present and future potential of the CLCLT with a variety of audiences, including funders, neighborhoods, buyers, developers and others Strong interpersonal and communication skills, excellent written and verbal skills Effective organizational, time management and administrative skills, including the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting Thorough understanding of property development, affordable housing finance, and community and economic development strategies Knowledge of basic computer programs, such as Word and Excel, is essential Knowledge of the Minneapolis community organization environment Experience working with a non-profit Board Knowledge of federal, state, city and county affordable housing resources, programs and techniques for affordable housing development Previous knowledge of the community land trust model a plus [/list]

Salary range: Commensurate with experience, $40,000 - $50,000, FTE, plus a generous benefits package.
