Dear Colleagues,
FACET, the Dutch consultant in micro-lending, and IFF, the Hamburg based
research institute, both offer a free download of the micro-lending handbook
co-written by E&J founder Jan Evers in 1999-2000. It is popular for its
technical but down-to-earth approach on how to achieve something so
difficult like efficient or even sustainable lending to micro businesses.
Here are the download links to a coloured PDF file of the complete handbook:
www.facetbv.nl/download/micro_lending_handbook.pdf
www.money-advice.net/ml/Handbook1.pdf
If you prefer a hardcopy book please contact FACET or IFF. They sell it for
around 30 Euro.
Background: In the context of a larger research project in 1999-2000 we
evaluated eight micro lending organisations throughout the world (such as
ADIE, Fundusz Mikro, ACCION,and Working Capital) to explore what is good and
what is bad practice.
Please keep in mind that this handbook is three years old now. We are
planning to produce an update. So all your ideas of additional best practice
worth mentioning (don't hesitate to give examples from your own
organisation) or critical comments are welcome. Please contact
jan.evers@eversjung.de.
All the best
Jan Evers and Martin Jung
