The CDFI Coalition is working with Senator Corzine (D-NJ) to demonstrate to Senators Mikulski (D-MD) and Bond (R-MO) that there is strong support in the Senate for increasing appropriations for the CDFI Fund.* (Senator Mikulski is the Chair of the Appropriations subcommittee with jurisdiction over the CDFI Fund and Senator Bond is the Ranking Republican Member on the subcommittee.)
Here is the most recent list of Senators signing on to the Corzine letter requesting $125 million for the CDFI Fund.*
Senators signing the Corzine letter:
Bingaman (D-NM)
Boxer (D-CA)
Johnson (D-SD) (Banking and Appropriations Committee)
Kennedy (D-MA)
Leahy (D-VT) (Appropriations Committee)
Sarbanes (D-MD) (Banking Committee)
Stabenow (D-MI) (Banking Committee)
Torricelli (D-NJ)
Wellstone (D-MN)
Wyden (D-OR)
It is a great start but it would be more persuasive if we could get more Senators to sign on.* I am particularly interested in recruiting more Banking Committee Democrats to sign on.* These special targets are listed below.* At this point, we have not recruited any Republicans.* While I am not giving up on this important group, I think it will be easier to make a last push to get most of the Democratic Senators to sign on.* So if your Senator is a Democrat who hasn't signed on yet, please make one more contact.* Corzine's office has set a deadline of tomorrow for signatures which I will encourage them to extend a few days but our advocacy efforts today and tomorrow will be critical to our success.* Thanks for all you are doing for CDFIs.*
Banking Committee Democrats who have not yet signed the Corzine letter
Dodd (D-CT)
Reed (D-RI)
Schumer (D-NY)
Bayh (D-IN)
Miller (D-GA) Staff has told me that Miller will NOT sign on
Carper (D-DE)
Akaka (D-HI)
Thank you for your advocacy.* Please contact me with any new reports or questions.*
