Hello fellow list members,

I'm writing from a crisp and clear Montreal, to ask for your help.

I'm Co-President of Net Impact McGill, the McGill MBA student organisation
'dedicated to exploring the intersection of business and society and using
business tools to improve society.' We are part of an international network
of MBA chapters at leading business schools around the world (though
currently focused in North America and Europe).

We are hosting a first-ever Networking and Social Career Fair here at
McGill, to both connect organisations which work in socially responsible
business, and to open our fellow students' eyes to work possibilities
outside of their usual corporate banking/consulting routine. We hope to
form organisational partnerships to benefit all, obviously, and connect our
MBAs to the communities around us.

I'm wondering if you would know of organisations or people in our area who
we could connect with, meet, and perhaps invite to this event. All contacts
or ideas are appreciated. We are also assembling a Board for the chapter
and would like to make contact along these lines as well. I can send more
information directly, should you like.

More information on our parent organisation -- which I don't pretend to
speak for -- is available at <www.net-impact.org>. Thanks very much in any
case for your time, consideration, and help!

peace,

Ted (Kantrowitz)

Hello again,

I'm writing to send a big Thank You to all who wrote back with such solid
and heartening leads for us at McGill (and the Social Networking/Career
Fair).

I received so many emails in two morning hours that my mailbox overflowed
and actually shut down for about six hours that night -- so if you tried to
mail me and had a bounced message, allow me to blame Microsoft. Please try
to re-send.

Due to your responses, we're already connecting student leaders at the
Canadian Net Impact chapters to Action Without Borders, which organizes
career fairs for non-profits and runs the idealist.org web site, about
helping to organise fairs across the country (coast to coast to coast, as we
say!) next year. Hopefully this will indeed turn out to mushroom, but I
wanted to say thanks to all of you, in the first place, for showing us the
path.

Finally, if your organisation needs interns this summer or new employees
this year (forgive me, but I'm still unemployed and worried), allow me to
strongly suggest that you contact Net Impact via <www.net-impact.org> for
inexpensive and focused access to MBAs who are interested in issues you are
already working on, from schools like McGill, Berkeley, Chicago, Michigan,
Harvard, UNC, etc, etc, etc -- over 700 MBAs attended our last conference.
If you're in Canada, please contact Kariann at our Canada-focused partner
organisation, the Community Experience Initiative, via <kariann@cei-iec.ca>.
Their web page is <http://www.management.mcgill.ca/cei>.

best of luck to all, and thanks again,

Ted
